Byron Center Public Schools
Howard Napp is a man who understands the value of a good plan.
In the summer of 2001, this newly hired Superintendent of the Byron
Center Public Schools turned to Traverse Management Resources, a
team he had contracted with in his previous district, for assistance.
TMR worked with the Byron Center administrative leadership team,
and designed and facilitated a strategic planning process involving
staff and citizens. This rapidly growing district has integrated
an innovative educational plan with a comprehensive building program
in the resulting five year strategic plan. Within the first year
of implementation, positive changes and renewed enthusiasm among
the staff were already evident. The strategic plan has provided
a shared vision of student achievement and a focus for efforts to
improve, making the leadership transition more effective for everyone.
With clear focus, unified direction, and personal commitment, Superintendent
Napp and the Byron Center Public Schools have accomplished in a
little over a year what many organizations never achieve.
